Fomo App Stop Loss & Take Profit: How to Set Them: cover image for the FomoFamilyApp.com guide

"Does the Fomo app have stop loss?" is one of the most common questions from new users, and the answer is: yes on perpetuals, partly on spot. This guide explains where stop loss and take profit orders exist in the Fomo Family app, how to set them, and how to protect a position when an automatic order is not available.

Where stop loss exists in Fomo

Comparison of perps and spot trading in the Fomo app: perps support stop loss, take profit, shorting, leverage and limit orders through Hyperliquid with a 0.05 percent Fomo fee; spot tokens rely on market buys, price alerts and manual exits, with a fee quoted per trade.

Perps on Fomo launched in June 2026 on Hyperliquid and Trade.xyz, and they inherit Hyperliquid's order types: market, limit, stop market, stop limit and take profit. Spot trading was built around one-tap market buys; order types on spot have been expanding, but availability differs by token and chain. See trading on Fomo for the overview.

Setting stop loss and take profit on a perps position

  1. Open the perps market and choose long or short.
  2. Enter your size and leverage. Lower leverage means a liquidation price further from entry.
  3. Before confirming, open the TP/SL section on the order screen.
  4. Enter a take profit price or percentage and a stop loss price or percentage. The screen shows the estimated profit and loss for each.
  5. Confirm the order with biometrics.
  6. To change them later, open the position from your portfolio and edit TP/SL.

Two things to understand:

  • Stop loss is a trigger, not a guarantee. When the price hits your stop, a market order is sent. In a fast move you can be filled worse than the stop price.
  • Liquidation comes before your stop if leverage is too high. Always check that your stop loss price is on the safe side of the liquidation price shown on the order screen.

Closing a perps position manually

Open the position, tap Close, choose full or partial, confirm. Accrued funding is settled and margin returns to your balance. The Fomo fee of 0.05% per transaction applies on close as well as open; see fees.

Stop loss on spot tokens

For spot tokens, check the token's trade screen for limit or trigger options. If none are shown, the practical approach is:

  1. Set a price alert on the token at your exit level.
  2. Decide the exit in advance and write it down; the feed will still be bullish when your level hits.
  3. Sell manually when the alert fires, using a percentage sell (for example 50% or 100%).

Why is this the approach? Spot trades on Fomo are on-chain swaps through decentralised exchanges. A resting stop order on an illiquid meme coin would often fill far from the trigger, or not at all if liquidity is pulled. A manual exit with a small slippage tolerance is usually better than an automatic stop on such tokens.

Setting a sensible stop

  • Perps on major coins: a stop 3% to 8% from entry at low leverage is a common range; tighter stops on volatile pairs get hit by noise.
  • Meme coins on spot: volatility is so high that a percentage stop is often meaningless. Size the position so a total loss is acceptable and treat the alert as an "attention" signal rather than a hard rule.
  • Take profit in stages: selling a third at each target keeps some exposure while banking gains.

Mistakes we see most often

  • Setting a stop loss on a perps position beyond the liquidation price, so the exchange closes the position first.
  • Following a leaderboard trader's entry without knowing their exit; see copy trading.
  • Raising slippage tolerance to force a sell on a token that has no liquidity; the token may be a honeypot. See failed to sell.
  • Confusing "sell all" on spot with closing a perps position; they are different screens and different fee structures.

Risk reminder

Perps with leverage can lose your full margin quickly, and stop losses reduce but do not remove that risk. Trade with 1x or 2x until you have watched how fills and funding behave.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Fomo app have stop loss?

Yes on perps positions, with take profit as well. On spot tokens it depends on the token; use price alerts and manual sells when no stop order is offered.

How do I close a trade on the Fomo app?

Spot: open the token, tap sell, choose a percentage, confirm. Perps: open the position, tap close, choose full or partial, confirm.

Can I set a trailing stop on Fomo?

Trailing stops are not documented on Fomo perps as of our last check. Adjust the stop manually from the position screen.

Why did my stop loss fill at a worse price?

Stops trigger a market order. In a fast market or a thin book, the fill can be worse than the trigger price.
