The Truth Terminal origin
In 2024 the researcher Andy Ayrey ran an experiment called Infinite Backrooms in which AI models talked to each other without human prompts. One of them, an agent later known as Truth Terminal, developed running jokes, and one transcript proposed a "fartcoin" as an absurd cryptocurrency. Truth Terminal became famous when Marc Andreessen sent it $50,000 in Bitcoin and it began promoting the Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) token.
An anonymous creator launched FARTCOIN on pump.fun in October 2024, citing that transcript. The coin had no connection to Ayrey or the agent beyond the name, but it rode the same "AI agents and memes" narrative.
